AUTUMN

The temperature for September averaged 71.2°F, which is 3.0°F above normal, and was the warmest since 2021 and ranked as the 5th warmest such month on record (since 1977).   There were 11 days that averaged near or below normal.  There were 15 days with maximums of 80°F or higher.  Temperature extremes included 88°F on the 6th and 55°F on the 22nd.

October’s temperature averaged 59°F, which was normal.  The month ranked as the 10th warmest such month on record and the warmest since 2019, and ranked as the 15th warmest consecutive such month on record (since 1977).   11 days averaged near or below normal.  There were 10 days with maximums of 70°F or higher and 4 days with maximums of 80°F or higher. Temperature extremes included 87°F on the 5th and 41°F on the 27th.     

In November, the temperature averaged 46.9°F, which was +0.1°F above normal.  The month ranked as the 19th warmest such month on record and the warmest since 2010, and ranked as the 4th warmest consecutive such month on record (since 1977).   12 days averaged above normal.  There were 5 days with maximums of 60°F or higher and 2 days with minimums of 32°F or lower. Temperature extremes included 68°F on the 5th and 32°F on the 29th.    

Autumn’s temperature averaged 59°F and tied with the autumn 1990 and 2010 as the 7th warmest such season on record.

Precipitation in September totaled only 2.26 inches (55 percent) and was 1.84 inches below normal.  The month ranked as the 13th driest such month on record and the driest since 1997. The month was also the 2nd consecutive such month and the 4th consecutive month with below-normal precipitation.  There were only 10 days with measurable precipitation. The most received in 24 hours was 1.64 inches on the 30th.  There were 10 clear days and only 5 overcast days.  

November’s precipitation totaled 2.38 inches (.71 percent) and was .93 inches below normal.  The month ranked as the 14th driest such month on record and the driest since 2010. The month was also the 5th consecutive such month with below normal precipitation.  The period Oct-Nov. rainfall totaled 6.47 inches and ranked as the 22nd driest such period since 1977.  The period was also the 2nd driest such period.  There was a trace of snow in the month.  The month tied with 1978, 81, 82, 84, 88, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 99, 96, 2004, 05, 08, 10, 13, and 24 as the least snowy such month with below normal snowfall.  There were only 3 clear days of 7 overcast days.  

Autumn’s rainfall totaled only 8.73 inches and was ranked as the 15th driest such season on record and the driest in 1981.  The season was the 2nd consecutive such season with below normal precipitation.  The period Oct.-Nov rainfall totaled 6.47 inches and ranked as the 22nd driest such period on record since 1977.
